LEARNING COMMUNITIES
Fall Session A: September 15 - October 13

The Apocalypse in Space & Time (Part 2)
Revelation stands as a great exclamation point at the conclusion of the scriptures, combining in an intricate collage of colorful images and symbols the final expression of the story of redemption. Though some have found the book bewildering, Bruce Gore will attempt to identify the underlying themes of Revelation that run throughout the Bible, the great truths that have encouraged God's people for thousands of years, and will continue to do so until history reaches its culmination with the return of Christ.

Prayer & Action Network (PAN)
We came together this summer in response to the crisis related to treatment of asylum seekers at the southern border. We want to have sincere prayer, civil discussion, and take steps of advocacy and action following Christ’s directive to love those who are hurting and marginalized in our world. Please join us.

Mentors Unite Group
This is a group for anyone currently mentoring formally or informally OR anyone who would like to become a mentor. You might be mentoring a student, a grandchild, a man or woman younger than you, etc. Time together will include sharing joys and challenges in our mentoring relationships. We’ll also talk about how Sunday’s scripture speaks into these relationships.

Knitting Group
Bring your knitting, crochet or needlepoint and be creative while we spend time together. Want to learn to knit? … Join us. We’ll talk about Sunday’s scripture and how it speaks into our lives. And, we’ll share ideas for how we’ll put the Word into action during the week.

Intergenerational Bible Time
"Bible Time" might be the lamest name ever, but it's proven to be one of our high schooler's favorite ways to engage Scripture. What began as an experiment in Westport grew into a nightly highlight as we'd simply sit down to read, discuss, disagree, share, grow, and blow each other's minds at our brilliance! We'd love you to join us for a loosely guided time of proving just how capable we are at finding wisdom and truth in the Word.

Tower Room
This group of mostly adults in their 30s and 40s meets in the center tower (at the top of the sanctuary stairs). We drink good coffee and engage in authentic discussion as well as liturgy elements like readings of scripture, prayer, exploring poems/writings, and responding to art/music/video/audio pieces.

Kingdom Living Group
Where do you spend most of your time during the week? Join with others to talk about how the scriptures we read on each Sunday translate into your particular vocational context. We’ll seek to challenge and encourage one another to build up the kingdom in our homes, schools and workplaces.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31

A Place for Newcomers
Are you new here or still feeling new even if you have been around awhile? Come share a cup of coffee. Meet some welcoming folks and get to know others who are new among us. This is a low key gathering. You’re welcome to land here every Sunday until you feel ready to venture into another group.

searching for sunday: loving, leaving, and finding the church
Book Discussion facilitated by John Sowers
Some of you will love this book; Held Evans will give words and meaning to your own faith. Some of you will disagree with some, if not most, of what she has to say, even to the point where it could feel threatening to your worldview and understanding about church and faith. Whether you love her or disagree with her or find yourself in between, I do think that Rachel Held Evans is an important voice for us to hear and one that represents many emerging Christians of the Gen X, Millennial, and Gen Z generations.
